Château de Lacaze
Lacaze
Property of the Lacaze town hall, run by the association « Friends of the Château de Lacaze », this magnificently recently renovated castle is one of the most important cultural and event centers in the region, in particular in the local council community of Sidobre Vals et Plateaux.
Description
The first written mention of Lacaze Castle appeared in 1420.
It was refurbished by the powerful Bourbon-Malauze family during the Renaissance period.
Damaged during the revolution, the castle was divided up and then sold to several families. Listed in 1927 in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments, it was bought in 1997 by the town hall. This castle, elected « Pôle d’Excellence Rurale » is today a center of exchange and artistic creation called « the AGORA of the Hautes Terres d’Oc ». Equipped with an amphitheater and meeting and reception rooms, it can host conferences, seminars and other events in an exceptional setting. There you can discover temporary artistic exhibitions, dance, music and theater shows, as well as a permanent collection of wooden sculptures by René Prestat.
For children, the knight’s equipment (chasuble, shield and sword) is loaned for the visit of the castle and the village.
From April to October a Tourist Information Point is open in the reception room of the castle.
