Circuit découverte du massif du Sidobre
A short tour of the Sidobre massif, specially designed for those who can’t walk very far (around 20 minutes’ walk to the proposed sites).
Description
A one-day tour to discover some of the Sidobre’s famous rocks and emblematic heritage sites. Ideal for those who can’t walk far (20 minutes on average per site).
50km tourist trail
– Lacrouzette: capital of the granite companies (visit the church of Notre Dame du Granit)
Restaurant at Le Lys or Pizza Mimosa – Several types of accommodation in the village
– Pic des fourches with the Peyro Clabdo trail (short 10-minute loop or long 20-minute loop), not forgetting the collection of minerals and fossils next to the granite sphinx (free download of hiking map).
– Crémaussel*: the shortened loop of the ‘sentier des merveilles’ (20 min – free downloadable walking map).
– Ferrières: Musée du Protestantisme, de la Réforme à laïcité (museum of Protestantism, from the Reformation to secularism) (go through the giant goose game next to the wash-house). Catering available at the Auberge du Tilleul in Guyor.
– Vialavert: Maison du Sidobre (Sidobre House) with its museum on granite work and the trail of the Immortals (20 mins – free download of walking map).
– Lac du Merle: in summer, you can eat at the Mini-Lys Guinguette.
– Chaos de la Rouquette: view of the rocky river from the roadside, or the shortened loop of the path (20 min – free download of hiking map)
– Lafontasse: Missègle (one of the last knitting workshops in France): shop and tour of the workshop available by prior arrangement.
– Burlats*: a charming medieval village on the banks of the River Agout (Adélaïde pavilion, l’Art et la matière craft centre, St Pierre collegiate church).Several types of accommodation in the village
Roads marked in red with an * are not recommended for large vehicles such as camper vans (plan to make a diversion to access the site or the village).
